Northern Ireland Shetland Pony Group Show
Editorial
The Shetland showcase is seen by many members as the highlight of the Shetland showing calendar and underpins many awards schemes administered by the Group. The organising committee was delighted with the number of entries forward. Members and spectators enjoyed the excellent facilities made available by Knockagh View Equestrian Centre and together with the exceptional September weather ensured the Show’s recipe for success.
It was refreshing to see several new ponies and partnerships
making their show ring debut. Congratulations are extended to
Taking top honours in the junior championship was Glenlough Studs 2 year old filly, Glenlough Perception, by Hose Exactly who died suddenly at the beginning of the 2007 season. Exactly was no stranger to top awards and it was a fitting tribute that his offspring are now following in his footsteps. Standing in Reserve and taking the coveted SPSBS Best Foal was one of the youngest exhibits in the junior classes Beltoy Cilver Cloud.
The Stud Book Society Best Lead
Rein award went to Toreagh Stud’s
On the open ridden front it was the seasoned partnership of Barns Isabel produced by Debbie Irwin from the Woodhill Show Team and ridden by Sarah Curry who retained their winning form and were awarded the SPSBS Best Ridden rosette for the 3rd year in succession.
Junior handlers were well catered
for and they welcomed the opportunity of taking over from the adults and competently
demonstrated just how polished they are in the show ring. Top honours and SPSBS
Best Young Handler in the junior age group, was Lauren Finn with the senior
title going to Sarah Curry.
The Overall Supreme of Show went
to Beltoy Stud’s yeld mare, Beltoy Stelrose, although lightly campaigned in
2007 the mare has enjoyed immense success taking 3 Championships from her 4
outings.
The junior champion, Glenlough Perception added the Reserve Supreme
title to her successful show.
